Hatley Returns to Ace Speedway
for 1999 Championship
Run
Coming off its best season points finish to date in the
Late Model Stock division, Steve Hatley Racing is gearing up
for the new year. While Steve finished third in the 1998
championship points race at Orange County and was presented
the first annual Mack Lamm Late Model Sportsmanship Award,
the team will be returning home in 1999 to the
highly competitive, newly reconfigured and NASCAR-sanctioned
Ace Speedway!
Steve has a lot of history and a lot of support at Ace.
He started racing there when he was 18, won back-to-back
Super Stock division championships there in l993 and 1994,
and took Late Model Stock Rookie of the Year honors in 1995.
The track wants him back, the fans want him back, and
so...hes going back!
The speedway itself has been generating a lot of
excitement in the off-season. Robert Isley, of Elon College,
has been named the new General Manager, and the track has
been expanded and resurfaced. Area race drivers and fans are
looking forward to a Bigger and Better Ace in
99. The historic speedway is located eight miles north
of Burlington, NC, off Highway 87.
Look for the familiar #41 Southern Parts/NAPA Pontiac to
be at the season opener on April 2nd. Happy New Year from
SHR!
